Hang Sơn Đoòng is one of Vietnam largest natural caves.Its name, Hang Sơn Đoòng, is variously translated from Vietnamese as 'cave of the mountain river cave of mountains behind Đoòng village.


By the middle of 2019, it was understood that the cave and a neighboring cave known as Hang Thung are connected by a subterranean river. Therefore, the cave's capacity rises by more than 1,600,000 cubic meters. (57,000,000 cu ft)

In addition passes are necessary to enter the tunnel and are only offered from January to August.After August, heavy rain raises the river levels, making it nearly impossible to enter the cave. Only Oxalis Adventure Tour experts are authorized to enter the cave in 2017 for touristic reasons.
